Privacy policy.
This is a personal site. I run it myself. I collect as little as I can and I respect your browser's privacy signals.
What this site is
This is my personal corner of the internet. Bio, writing, recipes, family photos (behind a passcode for the people who know it). I'm not selling anything here and there are no forms or signups. Newsletter writing lives on Substack, which has its own privacy policy. Anything on this domain is just pages.
What the site collects automatically
Three small services run in the background so I can see whether anyone reads what I post and so I get notified when the site is broken.
- Google Analytics 4: counts page views and where visits come from. I see aggregate numbers, not individual readers.
- Microsoft Clarity: heatmaps and anonymized session replays so I can see where the layout is confusing. Text in any input fields is masked by default.
- Sentry: JavaScript error reports so I know when a page is broken. Only fires if something actually fails.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, all three are skipped automatically (see below).
What I don't do
- No ad networks, no remarketing, no behavioral advertising.
- No sale of any data. There is no data to sell.
- No newsletter signup or contact form on this site.
- No tracking across other sites.
The Family section
The /family page is behind a passcode. If you have the passcode, you can see family photos and notes. The page is hosted on Cloudflare like the rest of the site; I am the only person who looks at the access logs.
If you email me
If you email gaither.stephens@gaitherdyn.com, I keep your email in my inbox like any other correspondence. That's it.

- Microsoft Clarity: Privacy statement.
- Sentry: Privacy policy.
- Substack: hosts the newsletter. If you follow the Substack link from any page here and subscribe over there, Substack handles your email under its own policy. I never see your address until you choose to subscribe.
Your privacy controls
I don't put a cookie banner on personal sites. Instead, this page reads your browser's Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends it, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Sentry are all skipped.
Global Privacy Control is on by default in Firefox, Brave, and DuckDuckGo. For Chrome, Safari, or Edge, the EFF Privacy Badger extension turns it on.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If I change how the site handles data, I will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top.
